I was in Georgia last year towards the end of the Autumn Season. It was already snowing really hard in the Mountains. :D

yea I saw the photos of mestia, that's why I asked. do you remember which month exactly? us singaporeans don't have a common definition when it comes to seasons. :s13:

edit: the actual definition is from the September equinox to the December solstice. don't think that's what you meant...

Yes, as far as I know the Indo - Burma border is opened to foreigner for crossing, just that a permit is required to do the crossing.
Do a check, the land border is Tamu (Burma side) - Moreh (India Mainpur state).

you are right. land borders are opened since august 2014. good luck!

You can come to the presentations without signing up in the forum too. Many come to the presentations mainly bcoz the topic is the destination they wanna go and they wanna "gain insights" from the presenter... ;)
Next month is PNG and Burundi/Rwanda which is not the places u r going, but always fun to mingle with other like minded people!

Thanks for the insights! Any insights to more off-the-beaten destinations will be fine for me because all my circle of friends are more into visiting Taiwan, Japan, South Korea, Australia (countries which are more popular among Singaporeans).

Unfortunately, I forgot my own userid for sgtravelcafe too! It has been a really really long time since I last login. I think I will create a new account using my other email. :)

It's like finding a needle in a haystack for Singaporeans in smaller cities.

Can't wait to go for another backpacking trip probably in south Africa

Cool, PNG!
Actually I have been thinking about PNG for some time now, my plans are Indonesia, Timor Leste and PNG and that is because I may delay my M2M trip due to monsoon season in Myanmar & NE-India this month. There is no point in my opinion to go during the monsoon season :(
If I have time, I might as well visit some other countries while waiting for the monsoon season to be over.

Good luck for winter. I was in UB in August a few years ago and there were hardly any backpackers around. I have the entire dorm to myself for a few days. Had a room mate for a day. Don't know how U gonna find anyone to share the Jeep. Most backpackers don't do winter especially if they are from a place where there's four seasons.
