Name Correction For SQ Booking

Hi, I have a situation which I cannot find a solution on SIA website. During my booking for an SQ flight, I made a typo error in my last name. I searched for name correction procedure for SQ booking and a travel website suggested that a customer can self help to change name by going to "manage booking "and then click "change flight". However, such an option is greyed out for my booking.

I believe name correction for minor typo-error is not an uncommon request but there is absolutely no information on SIA website.

I called SIA customer service and a staff told me it is impossible to make name correction and I must cancel my booking and make another booking.

Has anyone experienced the same situation and how did you resolve it?

You call SQ and ask them to make the name change. There is a fee payable as it involves the reissuance of a ticket.

If the error is minor, for example, Peter is spelt as Pater, it should be alright. You won't be able to do online check-in.

You cannot do any name change yourself.

Contact them. They change for me. Sometimes the passport sort of readjust ur name then everything cock up.

So far ok due to passport putting first, last middle name. Sometimes u change passport then everything gone case. Last time I tried this and the check in counter close one eye. Not sure what is the rule.

But if Jackson becomes Jickson, then I think airlines may charge you. Not sure whether can check in with this kind of error or not

Don't know what you are trying to say. All the while for the passport, the name order has always been the same. Change passport will not change the name order. Zzzzz.

The check-in staff can override the system. That means you can't do the self automated and online check-in.

Yes. One of the most important part of booking a flight us to ensure passenger name accuracy. It is impossible to change the name after the whole process. There is simply no amendment option. You need to cancel the booking and do a fresh one.

You can’t be more wrong. It is a very very uncommon request. An impossible request since there is no option to amend passenger name once booked.

With your kind of kantang potato name you were simply making life difficult for yourself.

I think cant jus change must get then to change "manually" charge or no charge it is up to them... if you solitaire then even easier... go to ion and ask them (bring passport and identification better in person) can or cannot on the spot they settle for u...

So far I took a photo and attached to my membership and it is done. Don’t even need to drive to ion

Those with membership won't even have this problem. The name is in the system and when they make the booking, the name will be auto entered lah. Where got still need to manually key in the name.

Thank you for looking into my query and in particular, to those who replied with constructive comments. SIA has corrected the name of the passenger affected and reissued e-tickets to all the passengers in my booking. SIA initially wanted USD 50 for booking amendment fee, but decided to waive the fee. Good gesture from SIA.

pretty sure they only reissued the ticket for the name change that was affected and not for all the pax. as long as e-ticket nbr don't change, there is no re-issuance.

Your last name and given names don't change. they stay with you for life unless you decide to change them legally.

go take a look at your passport. there is no last name and first name headings. the full name appears as it is.

the bottom part is where the last name appears first followed by the given names. this is standard for everyone/all passports.
