Hi, I would be enrolling in NS in about 2 years' time. And after watching Ah Boys to Men 1&2, it only made me more worried and even more confused about the different phases of NS. :s22:

Can any kind souls introduce me to what NS is like? I am a total newbie. The only thing I probably know is that the first few months is Basic Military Training, and you need to enlist 6 months early if you get C and below for NAPFA test in JC Year 2. Are these information even correct lol? :o

Also, I experiences occasional (extremely infrequent) chest pain, even when I am not exercising. I am not unhealthy (BMI:20.2). But it almost occurs for sure when I swim. The last time it occurred was like 1 year ago (swimming). I might have forgotten about it if I had not experienced it again during the weekends (stretching). It seems that it is inheritance from my maternal side. Should I go to hospital and obtain some form of certificate?

PS: What was the longest distance you guys had to ran? And what weight were you carrying? I want to train like now lol...

Dont worry, the time now is much better than last time. Every training in NS is progressive. For example, route marches 2,3,4,6,8 so on and so forth. Furthest I`ve marched is 32km. Furthest distance ran is 10km. It`s good to run short distance for a start. As u progress, can go on to long distance. There will be training like agility group run, endurance run and speed training. Expect to carry up to 15kilo of weight for a start.

As u progress on to after bmtc stage, certain things such as section stores will come into play. This is coming from an infantier. Currently in an active battalion. Not sure about other vocations tho=:p

Yes you should go see a doctor regarding your chest pains. Not because you are going to enlist but because your own health is at stake?

And I think it's 2 mths early if you fail Napfa.

BTW you ENLIST not ENROL. Also assuming you are enlisting into SAF not SPF or SCDF, those will be different.
It starts with BMT, look at this [Web Trailer] "Every Singaporean Son" - YouTube

read this iPrepNS - information on Preparation for National Service (Singapore)

You just know about BMT first, the rest can come later. It's more like everyone who are combat fit aka (PES A/B1) will at least go through of 9 weeks of BMT, if you did not get at least SILVER for NAPFA, whether in JC, POLY or do yourself, you will under go 8-week Physical Training Phase prior to the Pes A/B1 BMT.

Yes

can't remb. let others answer you.
