Need advice on CPU!

[SHIKSHINISM!♥'24']

Helping my friend out here. He wants to change his CPU. Wants to game and some video rendering.

Current specs:
i5-2500
Asus P8H77-V
8GB Ram
GTX 660

He probably needs an i7 right? But don't know which one. What do you guys suggest? How much and from which shop? Thanks in advance.

He's using Sony Vegas 12. Takes about 30 minutes to render. He thinks like he's using an iPhone 4 compared to current techs. Hahaha!

How about upgrading ram to 16gb?
