I found this MINDEF website which says

''In fact, to facilitate your tertiary education, MINDEF has an existing arrangement with the 3 local universities, i.e. NUS, NTU and SMU) for undergraduates, who are also NSmen, in the first 3 years of your studies.''

so im currently in NTU going on 4th year. i need to complete an attachment which is a requirement to complete my degree this coming may to july. however my ict falls within this period. Do i have the chance to succeed in deferring? i have mix information saying i wont be able to defer cause it falls in the 'ICT period' NTU agreed with MINDEF.

Other info. im deferring for the first time and its a 8 day ICT.

Please advice.

Have you submitted the application to defer?

If you need a deferment genuinely then just apply. However, you may wish to first explore with the person overseeing your attachment to see if arrangement can be made to let you attend the ICT.

i have set up a draft in the NS portal for deferment. but decided not to submit it first because they require supporting documents within 2 days of application which i cannot get it within such short notice.

and i have not explored the extension option with the company. decided to come here ask for advice on my chances first. any one in my shoes before?

if it is COMPULSORY to complete ur degree, go to undergraduate office and ask them to give u a letter or email stating that it is COMPULSORY for you to go for the attachment or you will not graduate.. forward that as a supporting document in your deferment application.

you very funny leh. assume we tell you is 0% chance u will not defer?

this kind of case, whether what chance also send defer application then talk.

anyway, you know you can also arrange with company and school that you go ict then extend your attachment to replace the time. the coy wun fold becos u not there for 2 weeks.

but the longer you drag, the lesser options you will have left.

Just complete your studies first lah. Can defer one, especially for studies. Just need some doc proof that you are really going for the attachment. They will approve.

When u apply for NTU attachment and if you had interviewed by the company and confirmed. You can print out the information regarding your attachment. That can be consider as a document proof. else ask your school office to write out a letter for you.

Can try to ask your attachment company do they allow you to go back ICT , but is just all too troublesome and not a good impression towards your attachment coy.
