Been having a lot of problem with current PC, due to connection problem between RAM and motherboard. Frequently need to unplug and re-plug in RAM for comp to start.

Thinking of changing the motherboard, CPU and RAM to solve this problem.

Existing comp spec:
Intel core 2 quad Q9550
Gigabyte board (cannot remember the model)
Sapphire 7850 GPU
PC2-6400 (400mhz) 2G x2 RAM
Intel 330 120G SSD
AeroCool V12-600 PSU
Asus AC1750 PCI-E network adapter

Mainly use the comp for gaming like Starcraft 2, Upcoming Overwatch, D3.

The motherboard will need to have PCI-E slot that is NOT directly on top of the GPU slot, as I need to fit the network adapter onto the board.
Just for info: GPU takes up 2 slots.

Any recommendations from guru here on upgrading the comp or solving the comp prob?
Budget is around $500.

TIA.

Already tried, it's getting worst. Even using a new pair of RAM, same problem.
May be the contact point between RAM and board is no good, hence wanna change.

How to effectively clean the motherboard RAM slots?
Use air pump before though to blow the dust off. Cannot use eraser...

$500 can buy a i3 6100 and motherboard brand of your choice and 2x4gb of DDR4. Modern games and apps generally works better on new i3 6100 even with just 2 cores with hyperthreading

Why a gamer board though hmm Asrock H81M HDS also good enough?

But how's the performance? There complaints though for dual cores not loading for both games?

Sent from a mere cat using GAGT
I won't go for either ASUS H81-GAMER or ASRock H81M-HDS R2.0 as TS needs to install that big chunk ASUS WiFi adapter too.

TS please consider Intel Core i5-4460 + ASRock Fatalty B85 Killer/B85M Pro4 + 8GB DDR3 RAM @ ~$450. :)

i recommended it just in case he needs the extra slots in the future. the dual core i used is i5 650, it worked fine without much issue with a gtx 650ti

A lot of people tend to have such mindset, but end up not opening their PC chassis panel at all... :s22:

Yeah, unlikely I will need the extra slot.

Seems like Intel Core i5-4460 + ASRock Fatalty B85 Killer + 8GB DDR3 RAM @ ~$450 would be the choice.

Thanks eveyone!
