And naturally, first time looking at parts. Need some advise regarding the parts I've chosen and if its a go.

CPU+MOBO: i5 6500 + ASUS H170 Pro Gaming - $525
RAM: Kingston 2133MHz DDR4 CL15 (4gb x 2) - $96
GPU: Sapphire R9 390 8GB Tri - $540
FAN: CM Hyper 103 Cooler - $45
SSD: Transcend 512 GB SSD - already purchased a while ago
PSU: Cooler Master G550M Semi Bronze - $103
Case: Corsair 200R Window - $95
DVDRW: Asus - $25

Now my aim is to bring down the cost without much compromise... NSF no money :(:( My budget is 1.4k .Also would like to be future proof so going for Skylake. Thanks guys!!

I won't buy ddr3 board and ram for Skylake, there is a chance future troubleshooting will bring headaches as these are going obsolete.

Gskill DDR4 is sell rather cheap in simlim, for the absolute saving, buying from Amazon is recommended, a savings of 40-80 can be had. 2x8gb sticks lowest go for about usd85 at Amazon, just need to monitor the prices with camelcamelcamel before you hit the buy button

Do you game in 1080p or 1440p resolution? If 1080p, then you can save about 30-40 bucks buying a palit/zotac gtx 970 from SLS.

I know people always say futureproof and all these bullcrap. But the fact is that, in a couple of years time, when a game needs more than 3 or 4gb vram as minimum requirement, the 390 will then be too slow to even buffer the frames in the 8gb available. We can imagine running today's AAA with a gtx 580 with 8gb mod for example, it still wont spit out more frame rate than a gtx 960 with 2gb vram.

We are talking about the cheapest lowest end 970 from both companies. Zotac 5 year warranty but slightly lower clock speed. Palit 2 year warranty with higher clock speed.

Both are equally as good as depends on what you want. Just make sure you are happy with the display connections ports with the card as they have different configs.

zotac - mini hdmi, dp, 2 x dual-dvi
palit - mini hdmi (i believe), 2 x mini dp, 1 dual-dvi

Bro,

Palit is 3 Years Warranty.

2nd Revision is HDMI / 2 Mini-DP / DVI
