Need help!! bad A lvl result...

I just got back my A lvl results and I am badly in need for advice. I did really badly BBB/UE (pcm/ econs gp) and I am at a loss right now. I am already at a clear disadvantage because I do not have pw as I was from poly. I graduated two years back and did my A's in ns because I wanted to get into ntu math science to pursue a career in actuary. I dont think I can get into any of the unis with this kind of shitty result now. And actuarial science isnt something that can be self study so it is highly recommended to go through a math degree to prepare for it.

Should I retake A lvl or should I give up and just go sim? You guys can flame me for failing my A's( I deserve it) but please offer me some sound advice after that. I appreciate it really. Thanks.

Ntu mathematical sci not an elite course. The IGP shows that you can get in with CCC/B. But yes, if you had a PW or MT to supplement the loss of points from the H1 U, you might have had a better chance. Actually, the content-based H1 subject, i.e. your contrasting subject, can actually be taken at a separate sitting that your GP/3H2. If you still have a year in NS to go, you may want to consider retaking just the Econs H1 itself. Since its just one subject, I'm sure you can score an A. But you cannot retake your GP separately from the H2 subjects.

I have already ord and if I decide to retake I need to take a year off which mean I will be entering uni at a later age, assuming I did decently well this year. Also, there is no guarantee I will do better this time rpund too. I am not sure as to whether I can accommodate to such a risk. However, I really want to pursue my passion and a part of me want to retake and give it another try. I am really torn on this front. Do you know of any successful cases of retaker? Can you advise me?

And do you know how I can improve my gp and econs? Does joining any private school help? Or should I just self study like how I did for my math and sciences. Frankly speaking, I dont need an A, I just need a B or C because I am not aiming for any elite course Thanks a lot for your reply.

But I need to take up statistics module which is important in actuary. I looked through the module offered by sim uol but it does not offer me an option of majoring in stats,instead more like applied or pure mathematics.

Just apply and hope for the best. Your H2 grades are quite decent for NTU mathematical sci. You might actually get in with some luck. You could try putting in NTU physics as a choice as well. In Physics year 2, they allow you to take a second major in math sci. Even if you get rejected with those grades, you can appeal and make a case that your H2 math was not that bad.

If you want to retake, I suggest that you just retake your H1 econs. If you retake everything, you might not do better, or you might even do worse. Unless you are quite confident in doing well, go ahead and retake everything. If you retake your econs and get an A, your grades will be BBB/A, GP E. Which is quite alright for science and engineering courses.

Yes, I do know of a few people who retook and were successful, but the numbers are quite slim. However, its quite good that you did decently for your H2 subjects even while in NS and with no formal training. For A-levels, you can try MDIS, I believe they do have a one-year A-level preparatory course.

Dont settle for a private degree, your grades as of now should be good enough to get into local uni. Just might not be a course of your choice.
