Need help! Not sure GPU, Mobo or SSD

Hi all,

Sorry for another "need help" thread.. Not sure if it's the season for all computers to die.

I was playing OW a while ago, when my computer suddenly BSOD with the error "VIDEO TDR FAILURE What fail: atikmpag.sys". When I tried to restart, the computer straightaway boot into BIOS and even if I exit, the computer goes back into the BIOS.

When my comp when into BSOD this happened:

Subsequently when I try to reboot sometimes I will get this:

There is no reason for my computer not booting into windows even if it's my GPU problem (I think?), that's why i suspect is either my mobo problem or ssd problem. However if based on the BSOD error it's the graphic drivers that has problem, and from what I read people are only able to solve the problem by changing new card. Has anyone experience this problem before or knows how to solve it?? TIA

CPU: Intel i5-3470
Ram: Corsair Vengence 4gb DDR3 1333mhz x2
GPU: Powercolor PCS HD7950
SSD: Plextor M3 pro 128gb

Most likely GPU going up lorry. Remove GPU and try iGPU.

I cannot but be amazed with the coincidence or maybe it's fated since the day it left the factory

Lol that particular mobo had been a pain in the *** since I use it long ago. Have problems again and again with it finally rid of it and replace it. But for your case saw that there is lots of artifact on screen could be your GPU faulty already.

Just realized your ram not running in dual channel. Later when u open your casing to replace gpu, change 1 ram to a ram slot with same colour

If you have another PCIe slot, try place your GPU there see if the problem arise maybe PCIe slot faulty?

thanks for all your reply. since ytd i was able to boot into windows once or twice only, after that everytime it reboots it goes into bios, so my ssd is definitely still working and the most likely culprit now is my mobo...

sorry does that mean put 1 in "DDR3_A1" slot and this other in "DDR3_A2" slots (referring to my picture"? sorry i'm not very knowledgeable about this part...

Just open up your casing and look at the ram slots. There should be 2 colours. Just move the ram so that they are in the same ram slot colour.

mine has no colour lol, but i think i got it to work already. when i put them side by side the bios shows single channel, but when i leave a gap in between the rams it shows dual. thanks anyway

Can you unplug your HDMI cable on the GPU side and then use the HDMI port on the Motherboard instead? If that solves that issue, means GPU problem.
If problem still happens, means cable problem.

buy the cheapest GPU card u can find...2nd hands ok too...and try replacing. troubleshooting pc problems is easier if u have spares to try replace and narrow down the faults. Failing power supply can also be a problem...or gpy fan 'sticky' or etc...too many variables to narrow down so try to eliminate 1 possible causes at a time.

else..just carry it to any pc shop where they have spares to try and troubleshoot

Yeah for that particular mobo to work in dual channel mode RAM should be put on the first slot and 3rd slot. Or 2nd slot and 4th slot.

But then dual channel or not doesn't make much difference in performance anyway. Can refer to your mobo manual to see which slot to use for dual channel mode.

For your case I see there are artifacts on screen so it's more likely GPU problem then mobo. Mobo problem usually is those pc auto reboot loop fan start and stop symptoms.

Just try and use your onboard mobo VGA connector to your monitor see if problem persist. If no problem likely GPU faulty.
