[Need help] Notebook unable to perform "updates"

Bought a refurbished asus zenbook UX303LA.

Running on win 8.1.

Tried the windows update but stuck at "checking for updates" like forever. Waited for at least 5 hrs, still stuck.

Tried many methods i can find on google, but doesnt help at all. I also try to upgrade to win 10, after the downloading that takes around 2 hr to complete, im back to the "checking for updates" screen again.

I also did a factory reset. No help at all.

wifi and surfing is ok. Im at my wits end, seeking for anyone that can help here.
