[ Need Help ] Regarding Cases / Airflow

Hey Guys! Once again need help for some of my queries ~

Im currently using a sharkoon t28 ( 1 xigmatek + 1 stock sharkoon fan intake front And 1 xigmatek exhaust ) with an i5 3570k and GTX 1080 MSI ARMOUR edt inside


My current CPU temps running 40+ degrees-ish on idle
Whenever i watch twitch streams at source + videos it will float around 50+ degrees celsius


Wondering if a case upgrade would help the temps be lower as i dont think that its really healthy if its at such temps.


PS. MY rooms air is rather stale too due to the fact that i cannot open my window much due to being too near the road

Open side of case. If temps not much improvement, then changing case won't help.

did u overclock ur pc?
change case with more fan slot only can reduce maybe around 2-5°c
maybe u can try for a change with aio liquid cooler.....reduce more heat too
depend which case u want to change too

i've undervolted my processor to run at 1.16x volt..

previous on stock it was going up to 1.2 which is worst

Now its stable at 1.16 @ 4 ghz ..

I think the idea is to use the open case, to find out how of the current temps can be attributed to your case/airflow, since that are the components you are thinking of changing. So by removing the case/airflow from the equation, that would give you an idea of how much your current setup can do?

E.g.

Assuming your ambient is 30C:

With the case open, cpu idles at 35C
With case closed, cpu idles at 45C

Then one assumption is that maybe your case/airflow could be one of the causes in that additional 10C. Then maybe improving airflow (case/fans,cable management,etc) might help improve temps.

But if...

With the case open, cpu idles at 45C
With case closed, cpu also idles at 45C

Then it's not a case/airflow issue liao right?

Maybe the problem is with your CM Hyper 103 cooler. Maybe need to reapply TIM, maybe changing cooler will help since it only has one fan and looks budget oriented *shrug*, etc. Or maybe you can tweak the cooler fan to be more aggressive and see if that helps. Or maybe there's no problem at all.

Personally I think the temps you are getting are not that unusual for our climate, don't think it's 'not really healthy' in anyway. It's still well within thermal specs. The CPU is not made of jelly. You're not talking about full load 70-80C 24/7. More of a personal preference thing IMO. It just feels nice if it's running cooler, but there's a limit, lol.

im not sure if sharing the workload of video playback to the gpu could lower the cpu usage (and thus temp). anyone can give an insight on this?

Temps are a bit high but not really of concern.

Video playback is usually done through the GPU+CPU. CPU alone using software acceleration will give quite poor performance.

My previous rig, using i5-3550 inside the same case as yours using stock cooler ran at 49~50 deg on idle XD. U are fine with that temps! unless u really dislike such temps

All these devices are designed to withstand extreme temp. A bit high like that is no problem one. Maybe it will cut the lifespan from 10 years to 9.5 assuming your other components last that long.
