I want to upgrade my desktop HDD to a SSD, and I appreciate any assistance anyone can give.

1) I am thinking of a 250G SSD (current HDD is 1T which I want to use as a secondary storage). Any recommendation?

2) Do I need to buy a separate tray to mount the SSD in my desktop?

3) Do I need a USB to SATA cable for the cloning? Or can I do the cloning within the desktop? I believed I have extra SATA cable inside the desktop. If so, can I just plug any spare SATA cable to the SSD? And is it plug and play?

4) Once the cloning is complete, do I need to reformat the original HDD before I used it as a secondary storage? Do i need to delete/uninstall the boot and all softwares? Do I need to swap the SATA ports between the SSD and HDD so that it can start up with the correct drive?

Sorry for asking so many questions. First time doing it. Many thanks for any help.

2) No. Just chuck it somewher/use double side tape

3&4) Clone within desktop. Change bios boot sequence after that.

3) if u dun mind fresh install it. if clone u need to be selective clone cos 1tbHDD =/= 250GB SSD (cant fit all)

4) this one depends on u if u want to format or not. well depends on what data u clone end up u might need to uninstall some things and reintsall it. change from bios that SSD as boot disk.
