Hello guys

Have bought this SSD on mistake thinking it will work with my z97 board:

http://m.aliexpress.com/item/2027639701.html?tracelog=storedetail2mobilesitedetail

However, it does not work. I am guessing this M.2 is sata based and will only work with laptops?

Is there any kind of pcie adapter i can use to make it work on desktop?

It is m.2. Do u know hw to install m.2 ssd? try searching for guides in youtube.

Also, depending on the brand that u gt, it might use up the last 2 sata ports. So make sure nothing in plugges in it.

If all else fails, it might be a fake or already not working when they sold to u.

Yes it does support M.2. I am using M7 Hero but the M.2 slot only supports PCIe based M.2?

If I am not wrong , there is 2 kinds of M.2
-M.2 PCIe based for desktop
- M.2 sata based for laptops

Mine is sata based? So is there some kind of adapter that will make it work with desktop using a PCIe slot?

M.2 gt 2 type Sata and pcie
Check ur motherboard support which type of m.2
If its different match = won't work no matter wad

If it's match the same type but fail to detect for os installation, you can try check whether the m.2 is under raw format. That's happen to me when asus send me tested m.2

yrs is the samsung pm851, the m.2 sata ssd.

datasheet: http://www.samsung.com/global/business/semiconductor/file/product/Datasheet_PM851_M2_v12.pdf

dun think you can use it on the M7H though....

how come you didn't check the model before you bought it? the pci.e equivalent is the xp941 in this case....

not very sure on whether there are adaptor cards, and even if there are, if it would be working for this model though

Yeah never check properly.. Haiz..

I found this enclosure thingy but not sure if it will support?

there are two types of sockets for M.2: one with a "B key" and one with a "M key"

M.2 socket types

B+M keyed drive (left) and a M keyed drive (right)
