Hello,
I have no idea why i cant turn on my computer since yesterday. The machine boots, went past bios, and all i get is a screen saying "reboot and select proper boot device. Or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key". I tried loading from a windows 8 cd and it works.

In my bios screen i can see all my components, including ssd, gpu, cpu, disk drive.

On windows 8 disk, im denied any operation with my SSD. Trying to repair windows 8 will say the hard drive is locked, i cannot reinstall windows 8 on the SSD. An error reads "The selected disk is of the gpt partition style".

I tried to take out my SSD and put it in a portable hard drive case and connect it to my laptop, all i see is a drive with 500+ MB space and a file called recovery.txt which i cannnot access.

Can anyone help me with this?

The ssd is a samsung 840 evo. Bought from amazon.

I tried that, it didnt work. it went into uefi shell and ask me for some command prompt.

And the problem happened suddenly, i didnt do anything "special" to my pc before it hit.

Hmx, seems weird, GPT format disk is intended for UEFI based system to boot from which I assumed that is the mode you installed your win 8 in, not the legacy mode which uses MBR format..

One possibility is that the win 8 run into some kind of OS corruption issue when doing a window update which kinda screwed up the essential system files thus unable to boot.

And yea, your best bet is to a clean reformat and re-installation of OS, do make sure to scan your ssd for any errors too just to be safe...
