Hi,

Please help me with the below comparison in terms of the performance and value!

Emulating my brother's rig:
Intel i5 3450 iV Bridge + Asrock B75M-DGS - 325
Kingston 8GB DDR PC3-1600 X2 - Unsure based on Tradepac but seeing other threads likely ~90/pc? so total 180
WD 1TB Sata - 76
Powercolor HD7970 3GB PCI-E - Unsure based on tradepac, but i think i saw some comment here that says it's no more already
Seasonic 620W Power Supply - Unsure pricing
Dell 23in LED - 219
Samsung ODD - 21
Case Sharkoon T28 Blue - 78

Total : >899 not including the GFX and Power, plus havent add in Windows

Some rig mix and match on this forum:
Asrock b75m dgs + i5 3350p - 271
Crucial 8gb 1600mhz - 89
WD Blue 1TB - 76
Plextor m5s 128gb - 128
MSI R9 270X 2gb Twin Frozr + FSP Raider 80 + Silver - 319
CM311 Chassis - 51
Samsung ODD - 21
Dell S2340L 23" - 219
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit OEM - 115

Total : ~1289

Are there major differences in performance between the 2?
What kinda changes would be recommended?

My requirements if needed:
In terms of gaming, I'm not that of a hardcore gamer, but may do Video processing and occasional sims 3 as well as music recording. Budget is not above 1.3k if possible

Thanks so much!

There is a difference in either one of them. The 7970 is a high end gpu. A better chassis.

But anyway if you are doing video processing and other stuffs like rendering? If so you might consider another type of rig. What kind of programs do you use for your video processing?

Currently the softwares I use are:
1) Adobe Audition CS3
2) Adobe Audition CS6 (both for music purposes)

1) Sony Vegas Pro (for video editing purposes)

However, as I have always been working on laptops, I have not ventured out to other potentially more powerful softwares which may be better, so I am planning to test once I have a better system.

I have some design softwares such as Rhino as well.
Sims 3 is kinda like my playground for architecture design.

Thanks so much for your help!

Then you are better off with a 16gb ram and i7. With a mid level range gpu for your gaming needs.

It will allow you to have more horsepower for all your needs in the long run. Plus your budget will be too tight if monitor and OS is needed.

Msi b85m g43 + i7-4770 ~ $475
Crucial 8gb 1600mhz x2 ~ $178
Wd blue 1tb ~ $76
Plextor m5s 128gb ~ $128
Powercolor r9 270 2gb ~ $245
Cm311 + fsp hexa 500w 80+ ~ $105
Samsung ODD ~ $21
Windows 7 home premium 64bit oem ~ $115
Dell s2340L 23inch ips panel ~ $219

Total $1562 buy at tradepac. Diy

With this rig you can venture out with more softwares needed in the near future.

Lets just say if you really wanna keep in within your budget of 1.3k. Got to cut corners some where with a low end gpu.

Asrock b75m dgs + i7 3770 ~ $423
Crucial 8gb 1600mhz ~ $89
WD blue 1tb ~ $76
Plextor m5s 128gb ~ $128
Powercolor r7 250 1gb ~ $140
Cm311 + fsp hexa 500w 80+ ~ $105
Samsung ODD ~ $21
Windows 7 home premium 64bit oem ~ $115
Dell s2240L 21.5inch ips panel ~ $199

This will be $1296. Buy at tradepac. Diy

Tradepac opens from 11am to 8.15pm

But my 1st rig stands. Just remove the r9 270 for a r7 250 will do.

But still overshot.

You will need to format the HDD first before detecting in windows.

Go to Start > Search for "disk management". And you should be able to see your HDD. From there do a format and once done you will see your HDD.
