Need info on Xiamen

Hi all,

I'll be traveling there in 2 weeks time and I have a few questions~

1) Is it cheaper to book a hotel online first before going or search for a hotel upon arrival?

2) Also, besides Gulangyu Island, anything else to do there?

There's Tulou which my friend says is worth a visit (if you like historical stuff). Search travelwiki and wikipedia for info. You'll need to join a tour group for that.

I find it's always best to book a hotel before reaching. Sometimes hotels can be fully booked way in advance (in general terms).

Do note there is no subway system yet, so you'll have to take the taxi or the bus or BRT (Bus rapid transit).

No problem, was there during the May 1st holiday. Since it's near the sea, they have lots seafood. I visited Gulangyu but not Tulou, maybe next time.

True, just an island. But it houses all the old embassies and even a church is there. Basically just looking at architecture and some stuff.
