Hi guys, haven't been upgrading my laptop for a long long time
please do give your input if possible!
I am irrelevant now in the portable computer market so please do help!
First off, What I'm using now:
Acer Aspire 8942G Intel Core i7 720QM(1.6GHz, 1333Mhz FSB <-whatever this means)
ATI Radeon HD 5850 4gb hyper memory(still no idea what these jargons mean)
18.4" Full HD 1080p LED LCD
8GB memory
Was using it as a desktop replacement
Complains:
Very very heavy
Very poor battery life
No USB 3.0
Will experience graphic spikes or performance 'spatial time travel' during
intensive use as the 'turboboost' kicks in at when needed rather then averaging out my performance higher.

New laptop wants:
Portability
I'm not sure what the current laptops weigh but I would sacrifice some portability for other features/performance.
Display
Would love a reasonably good quality display to enjoy movies on the bed
so at least 13inches up to 15inches? 17inches if it's still considered light(gotta love big screens)
Performance
I use the laptop almost like a desktop replacement previously, but now I need some portability due to my work so would sacrifice portability for performance and vice versa. Must be able to handle occasional 3D environment gaming if possible(see problem above)
Battery Life
Can last 100Mins-120Mins on full performance and at least 3.5Hours on conservative(Work mode - excel, words, spreadsheets, pdf viewing/editing, charts, etc)
HDD
I don't store much on my laptop, 500gb would suffice for storage purpose(though more is good) and 250gb(system files and gaming) although with the information I'd like to keep in it and the occasional intensive use for gaming, would like a high RPM(that's what affects the speed right?) and to make sure my documents are safe <- very important!
Data transfer and wireless capabilities
USB 3.0and charging capabilities(Can charge smartphones sufficient)
Good wireless card(I'm using 200mb optic fiber connection with no physical cables so, would a good wireless card boost my performance? I'm currently getting 50% signal(Vistumbler) with occasional disconnections and only getting 10-20Mbps based on speedtest.net to starhub
HDMI output is a must
CD-drive optional but preferable(got those slot-in no pop-outs design is preferable)
PC output to connect to older display output devices(overhead projectors?)
Good audio
I listen to alot of music(usually acoustic or indie music) when I'm working. Would be an additional perk to the laptop
