Hi all!

I need some recommendations for a budget rig ($800 - $1300).

Mainly will be used for Dota 2 (hoping for no lag: max all settings @ 60 fps), ms office, web surfing & watching movies.

Since I'm switching from a laptop to PC, I will be needing all the accessories including wireless adapter, OS, monitor, keyboard etc.

Being a total newbie with no DIY experience, I'm looking for a shop that provides assembly as well.

After doing some research, it seems that the more popular shops providing assembly services are PC Themes, Mynextcom & Bestbuy? Tradepac sounds quite intimidating.

If it's not too much trouble, I hope to have recommendations at the lower and higher end of my budget scale so I can compare :)

Appreciate anyone's input, thanks all!

PC Themes no horse run if you want a trouble-free experience.

MyNextCom seems to have attitude. They not happy won't even entertain you or respond to you. See got PMS or not, depends on time of the month.

BestBuy no more liao. I think it was next door to TradePac now closed down.

If you really has a tight budget and want value for money best is still to go tradepac as they are the cheapest in SLS. However they may persuade you to get other part if they see that you are a newbie. For assembly you can go to ts shop :) if you don't mind paying a bit extra just go to PC theme will be fine.

Dota 2? You just need a good dual core PC with a entry level gpu

ASRock H81M HDS + intel Pentium G3240 ~ $146
Crucial 8gb 1600mhz Value Ram ~ $95
WD Blue 1tb ~ $67
Plextor m6s 128gb ~ $119
Zotac GTX750 1gb ~ $169
Silverstone Essential 500w 80+ PSU ~ $55
Cooler Master Elite 311 USB 3.0 Chassis ~ $55
Samsung DVD Drive ~ $21
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit OEM ~ $110
Logitech Mk120 Keyboard And Mouse Combo ~ $18
Dell S2340L 23inch eIPS Panel ~ $219

Total ~ $1074. Buy at tradepac. DIY

Set aside $50 for Wireless Adapter. Wireless adapter will depend on what connection speed you are using.

Thanks for all the advice!

Just gonna add on a question: how many months does it take for the hardware price to drop significantly? I might just wait another 6 months before buying it.

No point waiting.

It wont drop significantly. It will take ages to drop $10-$20. By the time it takes to reduce like $50-$100 that will be the next new stuffs that will be launch.
