I'm intending to build a rig for gaming with some light video editing:

Mobo + CPU: ASUS Maximus VII Hero + Intel i5-4690K
PSU: Seasonic X-850 850W
GPU: ASUS GTX 970 Strix 4GB OC (2x SLI)
RAM: G.Skill TridentX PC2400 CL10 2x8GB

I want to be able to power an ASUS PG278Q monitor at high FPS when gaming. I'll probably OC the CPU a bit. Also, I'm trying to get the system as quiet as I can. Would a watercooling solution (e.g. Corsair H80i) help in that regard?

I'm looking at the Cooler Master HAF XB EVO casing, but I have no idea if that casing is decent for airflow or not. I like that form factor though. Any recommendations for a different casing would be very welcome too!

if you're looking for quiet than you have to consider fractal r5 or nzxt h440. arguably the top 2 quiet cases around.

Haf xb is great for airflow. Also ideal as a test bench. Or if u can stretch yr budget a bit, Air 540. Won't recommend R5 and H440 as yr priority is airflow n cube form

I actually prefer the look of the HAF XB vs the Air 540, but I might get the Air 540 if it's better for airflow.

H80i is decent, but I think for some top (c. 20 dollars or less) up can upgrade to H100i?

What games you intending to play at that resolution?

Recent games like Evolve and Star Citizen. I'm more concerned about fan noise than I am about overclocking potential (via additional cooling), which is why I would prefer the H80i. My assumption is that the noise from 1 fan < noise from 2 fans.

Can set to quiet mode using corsair link. But corsair software not very strong had quite a bit of issue.

both haf and 540 have good airflow. won't say one is better than the other. things are probably more accessible with haf as it's designed also as a test bench. and u can lug it around. but for more visuals of internals, 540 is better due to large side window. tough choice

Didn't have much time to set things up last night. Will take more pictures of it on my desk later =)
