Facing this phenomenon problem, motherboard audio port (green) always spoils.

using it with 2 sets of sound system

1: Creative Gigaworks T40 series ii

2: Yamaha Amp with book shelves speakers. (3.5mm to RCA cable)

i will inter-change if i wanted to use either one. but i plug in and out less than 10 times.

Audio port spoils, not immediate failure though. ( after usage of 6 months estimated). Went to RMA and got a new board. sold it after that.

I went to purchase a new motherboard SAME model.

Thinking of could it be i always plug in and out that causes the pin in the port to be 'loose'. i bought a 1 to 2 port 3.5mm connector, and it spoils again after 4 months

Gigabyte Z97X-UD3H.

Went to RMA and got back a new board today.

CDL Tech told me he suspects even change to another brand i might have this issue again. can anyone help or advise? its quite troublesome when it fails :(

he says sometimes power supply can cause such issues even though its working fine.

i am suspecting could the creative T40 II be the culprit? its still working fine though. but it does have this auto power saving features. which means when the pc is not playing any sound. it will goes to sleep mode. the knob is still turn on. when sound is played, the speaker will auto resume playing.

i hope someone here can help me , thanks a million!

May be the speaker or amp... because at different voltage potential

"Floating" objects can be at any potential they want, grounded objects are always grounded, so when you touch the doorknob sometimes you feel shock because you are at different potentials.

So voltage surge every time power up/down. One or twice or 100 times maybe fine, after 1000 cycles the input protection finally fails...

That, or the product just sucks. And Orccam's razor would suggest cost cutting to me a more likely cause.

will the 3.5mm cable from the creative speaker or the 3.5mm to rca cable from the amp cause it to spoil?

hopefully someone here can advise what went wrong.

why don't use one speaker to plug into case audio port? or get a perm splitter so don't need to plug in n out?

y not plug to ur Yamaha amplifier via SPDIF, Creative speakers permanently via 3.5mm

then use the OS to toggle between the 2 outputs.

Ur Yamaha amp can take advantage of the surround sound capabilities also
