Need some advice on ACCA

Hi I just finished army about 2months ago, and am intending to pursue ACCA at Kaplan, but with further reading, having found out that currently having cleared ACCA if I register would qualify me to be a CPA as they only accept people with degrees.

Is it still a good idea to pursue ACCA certification? If it's not recommended, what other ways should I go about in pursuing accounting?

In regards to CA SG, currently they only recognise accountancy degrees from NTU NUS SMU and SIM...?

So if I were to pursue SIM-UOL, it wouldn't be recognised now right?

For graduates from the SIM-UOL Accounting and Finance programme, which is currently non-accredited but recognised by the SAC for entry to the Singapore QP, the number of exemptions from the Foundation Programme will be assessed on a case-by-case basis depending on the nature and coverage of the modules taken during your degree programme.

So am I right to say that if I pursue SIM-UOL Accountancy and Fianance, I would still be eligible for CA via the Foundation Programme then followed by the Professional Programme, whereas graduates from NUS NTU SMU UniSIM will be eligible for the Professional Programme immediately, thus skipping the Foundation programme?

And if I were to pursue and clear ACCA and obtain the Oxford Brookes at the same time, it would be same scenario as me pursuing a SIM UOL Degree in Accountacy and Finance?

The scenario will not be the same as Oxford brookes does not meet the entry requirement for CA, unlike UOL programme where u can enter at foundation stage with exemptions. If you are really keen on practising accountancy and is able to join the work force within the next 3 years, i would advise you undertake ACCA (approx. 2.5-3years). Though not 100% sure of getting a CA title after 3 years, you will fetch the same starting pay with those elite local U graduate. For a safer route in case u wanna join other industry for mid career change, take on UOL (3yrs) then topped up ACCA (1yr), higher chance of getting CA (since CA are for degree holder) designation and easier to change job too. Hope my inputs help. If you will to be released 1 year ago, your path will be much clearer...

Yes.

If local graduates are from accounting major, the answer is yes but if the local graduate are not from accounting major, the answer is no.

The answer is no. Oxford Brookes is a useless degree & you can just get it by doing an assignment. You have learn nothing from Oxford Brookes & all from ACCA. That is the reason why Oxford Brookes is not recognize as a degree unlike SIM UOL Degree in Accountacy and Finance for CA Sg.
