Would like to seek some advice to upgrade my current set up, quite an old rig TBH, was thinking either to change a MOBO or GFX, budget around 200-300.

Thanks in advance guys! :)

$2-300 can probably only get u an upgrade of 2nd gen i5 or i7 with a board (used). You will probably have to reuse your old gfx.

So how much budget would you recommend? Games I play isn't heavy gfx consuming. like dota2 and dragon nest. The thing about my mobo now is that it doesn't have intel sata 6gb/s port, i'm using the marvel controller sata3 but seems like it's still bottled neck at 5gb/s.

Why would it bottleneck a hdd?

Hdd doesnt even saturate 3gbps.

Including ssd.

The most you need is a new gpu.

Set aside -

$100 for a SSD (new or used, of course used ones will be less capacity)
$200-300 for a i7 2nd Gen chip + board with Sata 3 ports (used)

If you think your GPU is getting old, set aside another $100+ for a better one

Sell off your old board and chip and/or gpu to free up funds for the upgrade. Best of luck.

Thanks for the info bro,

Actually I've gotten my SSD already, it's a crucial M500. I'm thinking whether should I get a new chipset and mobo but if changing the mobo doesn't really improve the performance of my SSD, I would be better off with a new graphics card? But with regards to graphics card, would my old mobo support the current graphics thats in the market? And what would your recommendation for it?

If you claim that you are using the marvel controller with sata 3 specs it should not bottleneck the ssd.

Hdd can put into sata 2 ports. It can barely reach the speed of the sata 2 specs.

The only sensible option to upgrade is a gpu.

No kidding, I hate those new tech marketing gimmicks.
Especially those newer router spd exaggaration AC wireless up to 300 Mbp crap .
real throughput is always very poor(due to interference) though still better than N wireless at close ranges .

Can only get those speeds if you have a >2 MIMO wireless card which is non-existance in current smart devices.

It really depends if you're going to play something like watchdogs or just simple games. If you want to play the latest games I would think a gen 2 chip and mobo would be an upgrade, and obviously a better gpu. It all boils down to how much u want to spend. $200-300 isn't going to get you very far.
