Looking to do a pc build with these:

- 32GB DDR5 RAM
- 16GB 5060TI or 5070TI
- 1TB SSD for OS
- 2TB SSD for software (e.g. games)
- Spare HDD or SSD slot in case I need more storage for game mods

Not sure which motherboard, processor, PSU, cooling, etc to use since I have never done a custom build before. What could be the estimated cost in total? I don’t need 4K gaming though so looking at 1080p or 1440p.

just get a simple am5 ryzen 5 + b650 combo, 32gb of ddr5 and a cheap tower cooler, but dont skimp on the psu. some suggestions:
r5 7500f + gigabyte b650m ds3h/(if u need wifi) asrock b650m pg lightning wifi $373/380 tradepac
2x 16gb adata xpg lancer blade 6000mhz cl30 $150 pckaki
thermalright peerless assassin 120 se $42 dynacore
adata xpg core reactor 750w $139 bizgram
What could be the estimated cost in total?
not sure tbh, what’s the average price range for this specs like?
the cost depends greatly on gpu. 5060ti 16gb build should around 1.5k, while a 5070ti pc is more like 2k+.
I don’t need 4K gaming though so looking at 1080p or 1440p.
the 5070ti will be overkill then. u can also wait for rx 9060 xt coming out this week, should provide 5060ti performance for cheaper.

thanks, as for CPU what if I go for Ryzen 7 9700X instead? also, which SSD brands are good? I’m actually thinking of going for something like this from Aftershock but with better/more reliable components like motherboard, cooling, PSU, SSD & maybe also GPU: https://aftershockpc.com/products/amd-l7

Major brand like Asus, MSI or Gigabyte will do. All quite reliable. I have used all of them b4.
As for Nvme, best is Samsung but most ex too. U can go for PCIe 4.0 one. I heard the PCIe 5.0 ones super hot!!! Need a good heatsink to cool down.
If u r gaming for long hrs without aircon, go for AIO 360mm cooler. Make sure ur casing can fit.
PSU will be min. 850W above to support 5070Ti as to play safe.

Is 1000W too much for 16GB 5070TI and how much PSU wattage would be good if I were to get 16GB 5060TI instead?

50xx or 40xx cards consume lower power as compared to the 30xx series
my last pc i only use 550W to run my 3060Ti using i7 10700
650W should more than enuff for 5060Ti if u dun overclock ur pc.
Also, tat depends on what are the peripherals in ur PC too. Eg, HDD, ARGB, type of processor...etc

With cpus and gpus now i will always recommend psu > 850W. Save yourself the trouble and headache. Get a good > 1kw/1.2Kw psu and be done with it.

dont just add CPU + GPU for estimated power consumption

add in other components too, like fans, pump, etc...

my 9 fans uses up to 50w at 100% speed....

Just ask urself do u think u will ever be intending to get 5080 lvl of gpu?
If no, 850W very safe enuff lvl with buffer

Recommended wattage for 5080 lowest is 850W

It's not about just yourself. If plan to change along the way, getter a better 1kw PSU is better than just getting a 850W. You put a 750 you are still able to power a 5080.

i think TS not intending to upgrade up much, aiming 1440P nia
i also 1440P nia, 9070XT/5070TI, even if i upgrade to 5080 my 850W also running it no issue

I for one will just use 1K watt PSU. rated cybenetic and ATX 3.1 pass. https://www.cybenetics.com/ and I prefer to use plat PSU.
I agreed with @ragnarok95 PSU at 1K watt has more headroom. Get a PSU that is at least 10 years warranty.
In addition. yes 850watt is sufficent but is it effecient? any system that draws 50% or below 50% fromf a PSU will have better power effiency. Its better off using a 1K watt PSU compared to a 850w PSU.
