Just received a push from Amazon EDM informing that the new Surface Pro (tablet) and Laptop are for sale now.

Can I check if specs are all similar, the difference between Pro and Laptop is that 1 is a clamshell and the other is a tablet with detachable keyboard?

In terms of performance and longevity wise, is laptop preferred over a tablet and why?

the surface tablet laptop didnt last long at my workplace. Back then the keyboard spoil very fast. replacement keyboard also expensive. Reliability more important than thin and not durable

Are you referring to the tablet or the laptop?

I think it is very difficult to tell about the longevity here. Generally a laptop form factor should result in higher performance because its got more physical room for a better cooling solution.

In any case, I am no fan of Microsoft's Surface series because if you Google online, you tend to find a number of teething quality issues consistently with every series. There is no perfect device, but for the price you pay, I expect better quality.

I see. I used to use Surface Laptop 4 for work and find it ok, nothing to shout about, not the best not the worst.

But considering the tablet can have a detachable keyboard makes it more flexible and lighter.

Not looking to game, just something aesthetically pleasing and can have decent performance for work related tasks. Prefer something portable than a CPU.

Specs similar globally.
Laptop vs tablet is all down to your own use-case. Performance is similar according to online reviews, just laptop has a longer battery life vs the tablet (no one really posts 'times' given use cases vary).
