i getting a New MOtherboard + CPU ,

but will be using my old hdds

istalled with alot of software .

what i need to do when i install the hdds to the new motherboard +cpu and prevent blue screen ?

would appreciate advise , thanks!

thats the thing , i got too much software installed will be a painif i reinstall

Just format it and you will have no headache. Don't need to uninstall one by one so tedious

Backup? That's the point of migration. Macrium has quite a few products for that as someone above posted.

Here's my advice. Update to Windows 10 if you haven't.

Because my update experience going from my 6700K to 9900K with a different motherboard was like changing a graphics card.

No reinstalling Windows or anything. It just works. Transferred all 3 of my drives over.
For the first startup after the swap, Windows will say 'Updating Devices'. After that, you will be back to your own profile to log in to.

Just don't make the same mistake as me where I plug the AIO fan to somewhere else other than the CPU Fan port. My mobo was strict in a way it will boot you to BIOS if it doesn't detect a fan in the CPU Fan header. So make sure at least 1 fan is connected to that port.

Once you log in to Windows, you'll notice everything works like normal. All your USB devices are recognized and all your software are there.

But if you have an OEM Windows 10, be sure to re-activate Windows by clicking on 'I changed hardware on this device recently'.
Then Windows will be back to being licensed.
