Silverstone Strider ST80F-TI Titanium

st80f-ti-34right.jpg

■ High efficiency with 80 PLUS Titanium certification
■ Compact design with a depth of 150mm for easy integration
■ All Japanese capacitors
■ 100% modular cables
■ 24/7 continuous power output with 40℃ operating temperature
■ Class-leading single +12V rail
■ Strict ±3% voltage regulation and low ripple & noise
■ Silent running 120mm fan with 18dBA minimum

The 80 PLUS Titanium represent the pinnacle of power supply efficiency with requirement of at least 90% conversion efficiency even at the very low 10% loading condition. This stringent standard makes mass producing 80 PLUS Titanium certified power supplies below 1000W extremely challenging. However, as a leader in power supply miniaturization, SilverStone successfully mass-produced a new line of power supplies the Strider Titanium series.

This compact design makes them the world's smallest fully modular ATX power supplies with 80 PLUS Titanium efficiency. Other enthusiasts features included are all Japanese capacitors, ±3% regulation, powerful single +12V rail, 24/7 continuous power output, and multiple PCI-E cables. For those looking to build the most efficient systems possible with great quality, the Strider Titanium is definitely the top choice.

Designed for 80 PLUS Titanium level of efficiency to reduce wasted heat and save on electricity.

Makes you wonder why they even need fan

Last time 85% efficiency also can make fanless

from the reviews I saw for other platinum PSU with eco mode , there is a component inside that can reach 85 celcius ... the component after it bring 110-220v to 260v .... the hotter it is the more efficient it gets

but heat is unhealthy for other capacitors , tiagong every 10 celcius higher = half the lifespan
I turned off ECO mode mode for that reason , better to keep the caps cool & healthy over the useful lifetime
after the fan bearing die , it will be the start of "forced" eco mode :s22:

No fan = heat buildup = kills components
Fan = dust = heat buildup = kills components

For our high local ambient, personally much prefer enduser adjustable low fan speed to keep things balanced out.

Spoil early can change newer model earlier
Maybe 3yrs later got 80+ Diamond :D

Those using PC cases with restricted psu length can use Silverstone psu. Their full modular ATX psu are very much shorter than other brands

The SilverStone ST80F-TI Strider Titanium 800W Power Supply is super efficient, has Japanese capacitors, it's fully modular and comes with flat/flexible leads, plus the 120mm fan is quiet. All of this comes at a cost though, but some of that expense will be offset with energy savings. Wow!

The 120mm Fluid Dynamic Bearing (FDB) fan used in the Strider Titanium 800W and can spin up to 2200RPM. It's an Air Penetrator fan’s unique blade and grille designs can create enough pressure to push air as far as 1 meter away with minimal fan speed and noise.

this looks neat -- presume this sff psu would be capable of powering an i5 6500 rig with the amd radeon pro duo ?

The package also contains fan filter.

Installation guide: Please make sure the power supply fan and FF141 filter are properly aligned. The embedded magnet on FF141 can be easily attached to any steel power supply surface.

The SilverStone ST80F-TI is the first of the new Strider Titanium units that we have seen and, in a lot of ways, it shined like Titanium (I'm not sure that is actually a thing.....). Among the best aspects of the ST80F-TI that we saw today was the outstanding voltage regulation, the excellent efficiency, the low noise output, and the very good Transient Load Test results. Beyond those items, the ST80F-TI also comes to us today with better warranty support (5 years now) and outstanding documentation which makes this feel like a higher end product than some of the previous Strider units we have seen.

The SilverStone ST80F-TI itself is ~5 15/16 inches long.

Once we open the SilverStone ST80F-TI, we see an Enhance unit that looks a bit different from what we have been seeing recently from SilverStone. The topology of this unit is modern and again includes a secondary which uses synchronous rectification and DC-DC VRMs for the minor rails. From the top, we see that the unit has three heatsinks. The largest heatsink is on the primary side while the two smaller heatsinks are on the secondary side. That heatsink on the primary side is the finely machined type that is normally found in Enhance built power supplies. These heatsinks are paired with a FDB Air Penetrator fan rated at 0.58A at 12v. When we flip the main PCB over, we find the soldering is generally excellent. We also find the 12v power components on this side of the PCB and they are heatsinked to the housing of the unit itself.

On the secondary side, past the transformers, we see the heatsinks that are attached to the PCB where the previously seen 12v power components are installed on the bottom of the PCB. The add-in PCB's next to those heatsinks house the DC-DC VRMs. Scattered throughout the secondary we find a smattering of capacitors. These include Nippon Chemi-con and Rubycon standard capacitors and Unicon solid capacitors. Moving to the modular PCB, we see that the modular PCB is very cleanly constructed with excellent soldering much like we saw on the main PCB.

JK
