Hey all! Been lurking around for the past month or so and reading up. I have a rough idea of what parts I want, but still have some doubts. Figured might as well get some help and see what you old birds think 
Basically I have a budget of about 1.6 - 1.7k. The most taxing game atm is BF4 (I think this game poisoned a lot of people
). Will be on 1080p for the most part, but the main thing I'm concerned about is Star Citizen, hence the R9 290 instead of 280x.
Anyway, the parts I got in mind are as follows..
Mobo: ASRock Z87 Extreme4
CPU: Intel i5-4670k
GPU: Cheapest R9 290 non-ref (Sapphire seems to be the best performer, but god that colour scheme..)
Casing: NZXT Phantom 530
HDD: WD 1TB Blue
PSU: Superflower HX600 (Read somewhere it's out of stock SLS-wide.. any suggestions?)
ODD: Samsung 24x
OS: Win 8.1
Already hooted Samsung SSD, Corsair H80i and Crucial RAM from Amazon. The 1.6-1.7k is only for the parts above.
Anyway here are my main concerns
1) Next gen games seem to be using hyper threading? Is it going to be worth the $$ to jump ship to i7?
2) In the event that I do, should I get a better mobo?
3) If go tomorrow, non-ref 290 will have stock? Seems like they disappeared quite quickly today!
