New RIG suggestion

Hi there,
I am looking for recommendation for a new RIG as my current is pretty old. Used for playing games - COD, APEX, Battlefield, etc

looking to buy 2080 gfx card but not sure if this is a good time or I should wait till later.

Current:
z77 motherboard
Intel Core i5-3470 CPU
24GB memory
GTX 670 Gfx card
1TB SSD
2TB HDD
650W PSU
CASE: NZXT Switch 810 Special Edition

budget around 2.5K - 3K.

$3k can afford at least 3900 for cpu. maybe 3080 for gpu. 32gb should be more than sufficient.
Slap in Gen 3 Nvme or wait for Gen 4 Nvme. PSU can aim abit higher like 850+W.
U might want to change chassis since now no more CDrom drive or floppy disk. Go for a sleek case with full dust filter if possible.

expect the 3080 to be around 2080 super pricing, so more ex than 2080 by about $200-$300. but thats without considering supply factors, hear that supply for 30 series cards very tight, so expect a markup on top of that.
gen 4 nvme usually cost about 1.5-2x that of a gen 3 nvme at a given capacity. but for 99% of ppl gen 3 is already blazing fast.

With your budget you can certainly get the RTX 3080 card so I would act on that right away if you can get hold of one. Then work out the rest. But in terms of CPU are you an Intel fanboy or willing to give AMD a go.

If you want to consider AMD then I would hold off for a while to see what AMD announce next month. The next gen should have a good performance boost since were going from Zen 2+ to Zen 3. If your going for this option also hold off the GPU purchase as AMD will be responding to NVidia's latest cards with their own and there is hope that they can match or even perform better.

Another question is are you planning on DIY, buying from a shop and for them to build or possibly engaging someone outside to build? Once we know the answers to these questions the detailed specs can be laid out

3080 cost S$1.1k+ at least but now got severe stock issue, you will have to wait for months. If not wait for 3070 next month, 3070 is very strong too. Avoid 2080 if possible

Power supply RTX3080 require a 750 Watt (3070 for 650 W). But of course 750 Watt is recommended

no problem with the card. but its like buying iphone 10 at msrp when iphone 12 already on the market.

Old generation. Not fast. Pricey, not bang-for-buck.
Like getting Toyota Vios over Lamborghini for the same price.

PCTheme haven't heard any complaints but just slightly high prices.

Wait till Dec/Jan better. Let the first batch of new stuff get reviewed by local users and issues solved.

Seen too many benchmarks and reviews, they practically watch each other and copy & paste. Boring videos.

Completely agree,.. since you have a working PC hang tight for a few months and let the hype die down. At that point you will be able to get a monster PC with the budget you have allocated

Hindsight 20/20, many people, including me thought the GPU situation would get better. But that's not the case as we can see...
