Ms Christine Sun, senior vice-president of research and analytics at OrangeTee & Tie, said the reclamation project is likely to have limited impact on the housing market now. Long-term impact will depend on specific development plans.

She noted that some homes that currently have sea views will instead have reservoir views in the future.

That said, East Coast residents could benefit from more recreational facilities, as well as quicker commutes to work if new offices are built on the Long Island. More will also benefit from having waterfront views from their homes, Ms Sun said.

Freshwater body. Less sea salt corrosion.
No one mention it will be a view of land reclamation for the next 30 years?

It will be what it will be. A problem for our kids and our grandkids' generation.

It is easy to create "sea rising" scenario to generate business. Basicaly the questions we should ask: (i) was the "sea rise" due to increase in tonnage of ships at that time; (ii) was dredging done to remove accumulated silts in that area and (iii) was it during a inter-monsoon period where the currents collide and increase the sea levels? We certainly have these data to verify if it is a truly a sea level rise or simply an engineered business deal.

What is new is sinkieland? Everything have an expiry. Your car can use more than 10 years but coe restricted you. Same for housing, all the convenient and view you get now will not last for 99yrs like your home lease.

Wow from the proposal can see that the entire east coast beach no more liao. The reclaimed parcels will be on higher ground and likely to have boulders instead of sandy beaches to prevent erosion. Means Sentosa is the only beach left.

The current East coast park will be untouched. The beaches will remain just no longer sea water
