dunno if u guys heard of this NEX ticket... think it is quite new:
NEX Tokyo Direct Ticket

1500yen for NEX, and can go to Tokyo, Saitama or Yokohama
same savings as the NEX+Suica package, except NEX+Suica got round-trip version and this one dun have.

i think it is good for those who already have or dun need the Suica

1 thing to note is that you can only use this to get from Narita Airport to Tokyo area, and you can't use this for the journey from Tokyo area back to Narita Airport.

but the thing is.. it is only 1 way.
for me i think taking the keisei skyliner would be more efficient. the 2 day metro pass will come in handy.

NEX+SUICA round trip is the most efficient, on arrival from Narita to Shinjuku then from Shinjuku to Narita on departure day. Usually after check out from hotel i will have a few extra hours till my flight, i will deposit my luggage (overloaded with purchases) at the coin operated deposit box (500yen) rather than pushing it around town for last minute shopping. My itinerary for each day usually has 2 areas to visit, using the hyperdia to plan the travelling involves transferring from JR to Metro and vice versa. Every day i travel from hotel in shinjuku to my 1st destination then a few hours later from 1st destination to 2nd destination, end of the day i travel back to hotel. The 2 days metro pass is a waste. Suica is better choice for me as i get the freedom to travel on both metro and JR.

Being a cheapskate, I always take the Keisei bus from Narita to Tokyo station which costs just 900 yen. The travelling time to Tokyo by KEISEI bus is not much different from Skyliner or NEX. :D

The card still have a value of 1500yen and you can refund it if u dun need it.

still need to factor in the admin cost for refunding. also, it takes about 1hr to reach tokyo station and its a pain to pull luggage through crowds whereas its 40 mins for skyliner to ueno, closer to the hotel i booked with lesser crowds :o.

Er.. I need help on transportation for 10days trip. Here is the itinerary(not confirm yet)
D1 - Tokyo to Osaka (exchange Jr pass 7days, n buy nex n suica)
D2 - Osaka
D3 - Osaka/kyoto
D4 - Osaka/Kyoto
D5 - Osaka to Tokyo
D6 to D10 - Tokyo
By the time in D8, the Jr pass is useless n switch to suica for the rest of the days. Is there a sign board on train, bus n rail that shows Jr pass can be use in their transportation.

dun think there is any sign. but all u need to do is to check hyperdia for train route. just uncheck the "private railway" option when searching the route coz JR pass can only be used for JR line
