Nikon D3300 worth it? Entry level.

As above. Any advise?

I'm intending it as a gift. Recipient is not big on camera, but love taking photo. I myself have zero idea. I know about D3300 through Google. Would like some experts advise.

Also, where is the most reliable place to get a good DSLR for entry level?
