Hey guys, I have a corsair hx850i PSU used for around one and half years, recently I decorated my chassis a little bit so I moved my rig from below table to above table and I noticed an uncomfortable and annoying buzzing sound from chassis. Finally, I narrow down that it comes from back of PSU. Not very loud, but I have a quiet build, so actually I can hear it with little effort. The sound is even louder when I run 3D games. Many corsair PSU users report that they have the buzz problem and even after RMA, buzz still exists. Do you have the same problem ? Should I request and RMA or switch to other brand?

Try powering it via another socket at home.
Sometimes other appliances on the same line cause the buzzing.

For example, using energy-saving lamps in my home causes my PSU to buzz loudly when they are switched on.

Absolutely silent when the lamps are off, though.

Coil whine. Its a hit or miss. Some brands dont even allow you to exchange due to coil whine. Unless it is severely loud. And its a grey area between "what is loud". To you it may seems loud, but to the service centre it may not.

So best to call up before heading down. Changing of brands may or may not help. Doesnt mean that brand A has no coil whine means it will not have on other units. It may have. Same goes to exchanging for rma, it may not solve the issue also.
