When I turn on my screen there is a time at the top right hand corner and another displayed at the Lock screen.

The one on the lock screen will lag behind. For example I turn on my screen at aaround 2pm and it shows only 12:20pm. I have to turn off the screen and turn it back on and the time will show current timing.

Not much of a problem but anyway to solve this problem ?

Could try clearing the applications running by pressing and holding the home button and swiping the apps you wish to close to the left or right. OR hit the button on the bottom right to clear all the running applications.

I suggest doing the clear all before you set the phone to sleep mode to help in battery life if you know you would not be using the applications or the phone any time soon

It is always better to keep Apps that you use frequently in memory cause reloading apps all over from scratch does take more battery since it needs to do so but there are cases for apps like Facebook or Facebook Messenger to be constantly running and not in a paused state.

Yeah I always close the apps before turning off my screen.

it should be default application which cannot be remove i have those as well, not the cause of your lag are you using 3rd party home not touchwiz?

timing wise in your initial post, seems like your network date/time is not synch..

Might you be using live wallpaper or a buggy launcher?

Check how much of the 2.7GB ram you are typically using. If it is very close to the max, then it may be a genuine memory shortage issue and you have to inspect your running processes and axe those apps you don't need. Or you can get an external SD card and move movable apps to the SD card to free up some memory.
