It depends on how big you need the screen to be. If you need the screen to be bigger than 17 inch and your budget is tight, you should get a all-in-one PC.

I would suggest getting a 17 inch laptop and an external monitor. The monitor will last you many years. The laptop has a battery that acts like a UPS. You have the flexibility of moving it around if the need arises.

I second this, get a laptop that is capable of housing several hdd/ssd, add a large size monitor and you have a very convenient computer, the battery has proven to be very helpful for me in the event of power loss you do not lose your work. Add some external hdd for backup and additional storage. In my case i sometime store my laptop in sdb to keep it physically secure, you can not do that with AiO.

Aftershock. Even if you up the RAM to 16GB, increase to 256GB SSD and toss in an external monitor (non-touchscreen), it would still be cheaper than the other options.

The 770M in the Toshiba is a more powerful graphics card but uses more power. Depends on what is important to you.

I would get a 24 inch 1080p monitor for around 300 or so. I find 27 inch a bit too big for 1080p. If you want to get a 4K display, check with Aftershock if the HDMI port supports it (needs to be HDMI 1.4). I personally have no use for a touchscreen. My fingers usually have more oil than Saudi Arabia.

I would also like to point out that laptop + external monitor means 2 displays. Very useful especially if you need to compare or reference other documents while you are working on one.

Or you could keep your email open on one screen while working on the other screen. It really helps.
