Extracted an 2.5 inch Hardisk from my dead notebook., bought a cheap case and convert it to a external storage.... At least that's what I thought.

But now , my desktop running Window 7 can seems to detect this even under storage disk management. USA plug in, led light is bright and running....

Can some pro advice?

eijnaix, connect the hdd to usb port at the back of the motherboard instead of the front panel port. And see if the system can detect the hdd.

Don't buy cheap casing/adaptor, better yet just plug it into your sata port or esata port if you want it to be unplug-able.
