National Service can be really difficult / stressful / aimless period for some. So I thought it would be beneficial to have a corner where NSFs can seek advice.
For context, many years ago I signed on an overseas scholarship with SAF. I went to an overseas Ivy League for my degree. After serving out my bond, I set up an artificial intelligence / data science firm. These days, in my free time, I provide mentorship to startups, NSFs as well as people seeking to enter the data science industry.
So if you have any questions in any of the following areas I listed below, and would like some advice, please feel free to reach out in this thread. Other lao jiaos in the SAF can also help provide their perspective. Hopefully this would serve to make your NS period a more meaningful and happier one.
Some areas I can perhaps advise in:
1) What is the life of a regular like? Is it worth it signing on with the SAF?
2) What should I do if my superior/peers are bullying me
3) I screwed up my A levels/poly, should I just sign on as a regular?
4) I screwed up my A levels/poly, now I am doomed to attend an university degree which I am not really interested in
5) How can I use these 2 years of my NSF to prepare for university so that I can do well or get into the dean's list?
6) I am interested in data science, how do I get started?
7) What are some data science/software engineering/cybersecurity course worth taking?
