I got into this CS programme in NTU. My friend told me I can get honours in my 4 years degree (im jc kia). Lets say touch wood I didn't do well for 1st 2 years and gpa less than 3, means to say I take 4 years to complete a bachelor degree compared to some of my friends who do a 3year program (direct honours)?

Yes. Even if your grades don't make the cut for honours, you would still require to complete the 4 years. The only other courses that kick you out after year 3 if your grades don't make the cut is NUS fass and I think business. Other courses here in SG are all direct honours as well. Meaning you must complete the 4 years, regardless whether your grades can get honours or not.

There are no 3 year direct honours programme here other than NTU biz. Others are all 4 years direct honours.

Sorry. I don't think I understood your question. No matter how good your grades. You will still need to take 4 years to complete. No one takes 3 years to complete with honours. Other than NTU biz. There are scholars who take an accelerated path to complete in 3.5 years though. But most people all take 4 years to complete degree, with or without honours.

poly kia 3 years in NTU CS, direct honours, with 32 AU exemption during year 1. Those poly come uni all 3 years CS accelerated program. Where got scholar, whole lot 200+ people in that corhot. Direct year 2 some more. Cannot be all scholars ba, if so they all too elite liao.

I just found out, Computer eng, EEE, alot all poly come uni 3 years course only!

Talking about JC intake. You said you were from JC. Just keeping it in context mah. Poly get exemptions cos they spent 3 years in poly.

envy for wat? u had the choice back then and u chose jc over poly after ur o lvl when there is no total time difference between jc-uni route and poly uni-route.

i feel it ain't so bad doing 1 year longer also.
it gives you an extra year to do internships, work on leadership roles in CCA and do side projects. all will help beef up your resume to improve your future prospects.

personally i'm from a 3 year course in ntu, and i have peers complaining why they are not in a 4-year program.
