Background: 2012-2016
Grades: 2nd Lower
Specialization: Finance

Types of personality who can do well in Business: outspoken, good-looking, have friends from JC joining the same course.

Professors in BBA: many foreigners with unintelligible accents. Also, they are snobby and tend to only favour students with high CAP.

Field Service Project: try to do in Year 3 sem 2, and join with your friends. If not you will meet weirdo loners!! Also, not a guaranteed A (I got B+)

Exchange: try to go in year 2 sem 2 (earlier the better). Recommended because can freeze CAP and pull up CAP. I choose to go Peking U coz less competitive.

Internships: it's getting more and more common that everyone have at least 3 internships. I did 5. Most I saw was 7 lol. those posted on NUS career portal gave me really bad experience, like saikang work. pls apply directly to company websites. Also can take leave of absence if it is in a good company, less competitive for 6 mth internships.

Career services: NUS one is not very useful. a lot of networking via LinkedIn necessary.

Specializations: still very outdated and too theoretical.
1)Entrepreneurship: new one. Not sure how many students actually want to start their new business, but most people I know would rather work in banking lol.
2)Biz analytics: also new, long overdue but hardly think anyone will choose this over Comp Science directly. Curriculum seems like just a new name+rearranging of some mods
3)Biz Econs: new too, but it is diluting the BBA brand. There is already an Econs degree, Econs minor and major available in NUS. People may think you are from FASS lol.
4)Finance: most popular
5)Marketing: 2nd most popular.
6)Human Leadership and Human Capital management: HR change to a sexier name.
7)Supply chain management and operations: least popular.

Case competitions: just join lol, if win is good for resume.

CFA: pls take while in school! Saves you so much time. next time working, no time to study.

Average salary: think the $3800 reported was unrealistic. Most of my friends were earning lesser than that (unless you can get into IB or top MA programmes). I only had 2 offers, accounting for $2600 and management associate in an insurance company for $3400. This is due to the massive competition from NTU, SMU, SIM, overseas uni etc. My accounting company which is HQ in Australia, did not distinguish btw SIM and NUS. The SIM one had higher GPA of course, she grad top in class. Then my company really thought she is better.

i don’t think it really matters?

Exactly, ts so funny think need to distinguish. I believe graduate top in class is not easy. Not like SIM degree easier than NUS.

We used to have a sticky on program review but they removed with new mod I think.

Anyway, it really depends on decision maker in the company. Being Oz does not auto make it this way. In reality degree and grades matter with 1st job after that experience. Not everyone from ivy raise to greatnesses

Easier is very relative, SIM offer so many program from various uni anyway.
No one taken both program to compare them objectively

Even program easier does not mean grad has less knowledge, ppl gain that outside coursework? Some ppl retain info better than others. Uni does not guarantee that

I think the all local/private uni Grads have to really understand, in the Real working world don't be too stuck up with your academic institutions/achievements.

Yes, it's still very essential to have the tertiary/University education, but it's merely a door opener. At the end of the day, the Employer doesn't care what color/breed of Cat you are, as long as you're able to catch the Rat, you're a qualified Rat.

Of course the above only applies to private/commercial, if you're gonna work in public/civil service or GLC/starboard - then Yes, paper qualifications is almost everything generally speaking.
