hi, not sure where to begin as i have little knowledge on computer bits

basically, my friend who said he could help me reboot my laptop as its almost 4 years old and when i play certain games the computer usage hits 100% (with every other program closed) came over and did exactly that.

after rebooting everything was basically wiped off and he tried to check if i could play the online game i've been playing with less lag (basically to see if theres any improvements of the lag)

now the problem is, this cant be done at least until we get the graphics card problem sorted out.

so before the rebooting, graphics card showed this:
lyLEZdB.png

after rebooting, graphic card showed this:
uRDi2cS.png

we tried to download nvidia graphics driver thats the same model but we kept getting:
RVO8aMx.png

so. are there any suggestions to get the laptop to use the nvidia graphics card?

thorough help would be much appreciated, im a total noob when it comes to these kind of things. thanks a bunch in advance!

It just simply means the driver isn't compatible. Why not get a more specific one M for mobile. Or try alternatives like guru3d.com

think the problem is:
uRDi2cS.png
(this is all i can see for now, cant locate the nvidia geforce gt 230m)

some links ive gone to see, all state that when they click they see this:
lyLEZdB.png
(this pic was taken before the rebooting)

example:
error 80070020 when installing nVidia GeForce GT 230M through Windows - Microsoft Community

any idea how to locate the nvidia model back onto device manager?

What's the laptop brand/model? Have you try getting the driver directly from the manufacturer site?

Get the driver from Asus, Toshiba, etc site whichever brand you bought. Or delete the Standard VGA and reinstall the file manually. Or Delete Standard VGA and reinstall nvidia driver.

Think u gotta be more specific. Did u install a new OS?? Assume ur laptop was using windows XP? Eg, if u upgrade to win 7, ur graphic card might no longer be supported, thus, no driver for win 7.
