I know nothing about the Apple TV but I'm quite intrigued. Anyone able to ELI5 on the benefits of it? Would it take over Starhub tv plan for example? Is it standalone? Doesn't SmartTVs already come with the OS?

No Pre-order I suppose. Should be able to get on 22nd launch day.

Apple TV is not a subscription TV box like Starhub. You can use it to watch contents available from iTunes (purchase/rent), Netflix, Toogle and any other TV apps that's available in the Apple TV App Store, including games..

You can also use it to AirPlay things like media and photos from your iPhone/iPad/Mac..

That's pretty much it.. If you get a good enough Smart TV, you can do pretty much all of the above excluding AirPlay and contents from iTunes..

I think when they say daily production of max 10k a day for X is a bluff.

Is to ensure people keep on buying.

10k a day is only 300k a month and 3.6mil a year.
Last year iPhone sells more than 100 million unit.

They want to bluff who? :p

Possible. But you do understand exponential ramp up in production right? Due to better yield and increase capacity.

True. Apps needs update for face ID

Means if apps nv update for face id, then banking apps etc which use touch id will no longer work in iPhone X?

Apple Pay and Banking Apps that use Touch ID essentially use a 'LocalAuthentication' API that uses biometrics(software tells app true or false)

Don't think apps can talk to Touch ID directly and will need to reprogram for Face ID

They also confirmed this in the keynote at around 1:29:10

Is the iPhone 8 and X compatible with magnetic mount but at the same time wireless charging?

I know scosche have a charging magnetic mount coming soon. Don't know can it be used with a case or have to be naked.

Wireless charging utilises electromagnetism principles. By principle, it won't work if both Co exist together unless engineering is able to separate magnetic field and electromagnetic field, then it will work..

Looks like what happened on iphone 7 will cont into 8/X...
"Interestingly, for the iPhone 8 and X, all carriers in China, Hong Kong, Japan and Australia are shipping with the Qualcomm modems"

Wondering why Apple don’t bring the Qualcomm modem version to Singapore, it will works just fine.
Qualcomm and Apple have some lawsuit, not surprise that maybe next week switch to full Intel Gigabit modem
