Define "fast". :D

I can easily overtake a MTB around 30km/h. =:p

Sure bo? The wheel so small. Must cycle like mad then can reach 30km/h. I suka suka cycle can reach 30km/h. :D

The reason why I don't like portable bicycle is becos they don't have the true performance of a standard MTB or road bike!

is it weird to get the Giant Anthem 1 and change the tyres to slick or semi slick?

Makes perfect sense to me actually. :p I used to have slicks on my NRS.

1) Knobblies used for extended periods on road will wear down faster.
2) FS bikes with rock hard slicks make the ride less jarring, therefore, the rider feels less fatigue and can go faster longer.

Use a steel or ti or carbon frame for road, it will be less jarring. Full susp for road use is almost a total waste of energy unless u can almost fully lock it out. Thereafter it is still heavier than normal hardtails by at least 1lb, but juz as jarring (if it is an alu).

Most frames cost about the same here as overseas (and maybe even slightly cheaper), unless you can find a very good closeout deal in USA. Don't forget that purchases in USA incur taxes and possibly shipping within domestic USA. Thereafter when you cousin bring it back, it's likely to incur additional luggage charges.

Also, warranty issues most bike companies expect you to deal through the retailer you purchase from.

Unless you can find a good closeout, or frames that are not available locally, getting from overseas does not make sense.

depends primiarly on the budget, weight, engagement, strength you are looking at. If you are looking at top end XC wheelset, cater about 1.6k.
