Try changing new batteries?

Tried changing to another battery, can't power up too.

I think the phone hard bricked already, but never mind since I got another spare phone lying around.

go fix bah.. s5 is a good phone, got water resistant and removable battery.
the only thing I don't like is the fingerprint scanner.

all my Samsung phones doesn't have overheating problem. Same goes to my iPhones.

Measured surface of phone with infrared thermometer after playing pokemon go for about a hour, the screen felt very hot but only 42-48 degrees. aida64 cpu is 80+ degrees.

your temperature is ok 42c to 48c my S4 1mins can get like 45c to 50c just open screen already very hot touch touch here touch touch there Samsung Galaxy S4 笑笑

all my Samsung phones doesn't have overheating problem. Same goes to my iPhones.
