I have a lot of questions and issues which are bugging me now as I am serving BMT and i feel depressed on a daily basis the more i think about these things. I was down pes approximately 2 weeks ago and was also told by my pc that my oot has been filed. Since then, everyday, ive been doing absolutely nothing. Im not able to return to bunk, i can bring a book in to read but thats about it, so everyday i wake up without a purpose and i feel very depressed about it, especially on sundays right before book in.
My first question is how long do I have to keep waiting like this because I really feel like I can't take it anymore. Will I be posted out soon? Because I OOT'd after 3 other guys already OOT in the company but theyre still waiting and theyve been waiting for a week and a half longer than I have.
My second question is what tends to happen when everyone else goes on field camp and if theres a weekend of confinement before field camp? Will I still be confined...? And do I have to stay trapped in the company whilst they go on camp? Is there anyway out of it if that is the case?
My third question is what vocations am I valid to do? I was pes down to C9 but wasnt told what L and i have been excused all grass and outfield.

1) learn to paragraph, if you have not already learned while in school.

2) why you down pes?

3) you already down pes and OOT, and still complain you do nothing when others are out there slogging?

4) You have to wait as long as they take to revocate you. You cannot take it anymore cause you down pes and OOT, but can you choose not to down pes and OOT?

5) you will either post out the same time or later than the other 3 guys lor.

6) you are still with the company, so if your company gets confined you should still be confined.

7) you aren't trapped, you are still in the company, so that's not a trap. I think you will be asked to be sai kang party probably.

8) why do you want a way out of it?

9) any possible vocations that doesn't involve* grass and outfield. (this is very broad btw, so they can define it in very creative ways and you cannot complain about it)

you are a special case because you are no longer in the same flow as everyone else.

you are feeling 'depressed' because you do not see a point in the situation. but you need to look at the big picture. the point is basically serve your 2 years duration. there are times where you will be busy, sometimes there is nothing to do at all. some vocations are super tough. some are super easy. that is the nature of being in any armed forces. it is better that you accept it sooner.

Q1. don't think too much and just follow instructions. if no instructions, or if there is nothing to do, just take it easy. read a book , yea why not. count your blessings you are not charging up a hill. but always show a positive attitude. nobody likes a person with a negative attitude.

personally i would prefer to do nothing for my NS days like you, but sadly, that was not the case for me.

Q2. that depends on your superiors. if you are told to be confined but do nothing; count your blessings. actually that would be fairer to everyone because others are having a much tougher time than you. if you are allowed to book out, then treat it as a bonus.

Q3. for C9, you will most likely be not considered fit for many combat roles.
don't worry too much and let them assign you when the time is right.
sometimes there will be a waiting period because there has to be a vacancy, or you may need to attend a course first, and the schedule is not determined yet.
examples:
store/logistics
admin
hq position
etc etc
i had the experience of OOC from BMT as well, and my recourse was actually 1 year later.

u can wait very long or wait very short depending on vacancies for courses and is assigned by CMPB.. even ur commanders have no control and out of their hands once they filed OOT

u will likely be lobo and help out with stuff assigned by ur CSM or CQ like prepare stores etc until CMPB do smth about it

hello reddevil, thank you for replying.

I am currently serving PES BP BMT in Tekong and I have been placed on OOT status now according to my Sergeant. I am on OOT due to mental stress. Namely adjustment disorders, anxiety attacks & breaking down countless times during my time in Tekong.. When I am in Tekong, most of my time is spent crying in toilet cubicles or quiet places (when everyone else is showering i’ll look for somewhere else) I am actually quite shy to share all these but I desperately need help. The uncertainty of not knowing what is waiting ahead of you is really killing me inside, even while being home sometimes. The slightest thought of returning to Tekong haunts me. I am given 84 days of LD, excuse firearms etc by my MO.

What I would hope to find out is:

1. According to my MO, he mentioned to me something about Down Pes/Posted out to admin vocations (something like that) the last time we met. But did not say anything else, therefore I am unsure what I have to do in the meantime.

2. What is the expected procedure and waiting time? Has anyone been through something like me?

3. How will I receive my posting results? Will it be affected if I am not in camp when arrives?

Thank you so much for your help on this, I really really appreciate it. Any inputs are welcomed as well, thank you everyone 🙏🏻

1. Ask your commander/MO

2. Your commander will be in the best position to advise.
