OS for new DIY rig.

I just built a new PC. I got a windows 7 professional upgrade product key. is it possible to use that key to activate windows?

Upgrade product keys requires an original OS to be on the platform first before proceeding with the upgrade.

You will need a XP/Vista or a win 7 below professional in order for the key to work.
