Hi guys, starting to notice an oscillating sound coming from my PC which rises and falls like something is "throbbing". Suspect it's my PSU as a simple hearing test (i.e. I put my ear next to the case at the PSU location) but may be the 90mm case fan located right below also.

Have ruled out the CPU cooler as the one I'm using (Coolermaster V4) has 2 fans spinning consistently when I listen to them.

Probably time to switch out my aging components liao (5 years+, going on 6)

Should I switch Casing + PSU + case fans first, then motherboard + processor in the later half of the year? Since Skylake and W10 supposed to come out in Q3, might as well change both together. Was considering upgrading GPU from R7850 also, maybe to R9 280X or 290X when 300 series comes out the 200 drops :s22:

TS, you mean to isolate the noise or to upgrade?

Paiseh, wasn't clear. More of asking for advice regarding incremental upgrade ba, since it's about time for one anyway.

Looking at Fractal Design R5 for casing, any recommendations for PSU? Preferably modular at least 550W.
