You didn't know? The Japanese were all ready to go and was already at Borneo. The Japanese Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi ordered the deployment of the Maritime Self-Defense Force transport ship JS Kunisaki, three CH-47 Chinook heavy-lift helicopters for water bombing, and around 300 to 600 personnel. They started at 10th September but for some reasons, they left at 29th September.
The official reason is that the Japanese wrapped up their operation after the Indonesians say that they did well and the indos can take it from there.
However, it doesn't make sense at all. Any country facing this kind of transnational disaster level issues will ask their friends and the superpowers to help as long as they can while their own country use the time to reorganise their firefighting capabilities and prevent more hotspots. The Japanese SDF are are very experienced in fighting big wildfires from the skies. The Japanese are literally the subject matter expert in East Asia. So why ask them to leave?
There is only one reason after looking at all the Ji@o wei from Indo's cabinet ministers and the mad increase in hotspots after the Japanese left. The actual meaning of the official reason is ," Thank you for your work. Your work is too good so can you please F@rk off from our country. We the politicians still need the $$ from the Palm Oil industry".
All along Singapore don't care to offend Indonesia. They have terrorists. They are barbaric. And their numbers are huge, 288m people.
You want their retaliation especially when their president is super incompetent, plays nationalism, super racist and was a big contributor for the 98 massacre against Chinese?
indo is savage
their ppl can be brutal, cut off each other heads over minor issues
just mindless numbing cruelty
plantation ops land concession slash and burn
IS THE SYSTEM DESIGNED by the indo gov for GDP, jobs and income
the companies although complicit, THEY ARE NOT THE MAIN DRIVERS
its the INDO GOV
1. MSIA SG GOV, thru various wealth funds, stakes, glc ARE INVOLVED in lndo plantation ops
2. indo billionaires have ASSETS in sg
3. haze can be categorised as WMD
4. KARMA wise, if MSIA & SG GOV did invested in indo plantation ops and BENEFIT then the suffering from haze seems fair
there will be no resolution until MSIA SG stop investing and treat this as an act of war
2015 estimated 100k ppl died due to haze, 90k Indonesian
it sucks when your neighbour is poor and your own states are greedy
health is wealth, but in front of the haze, feels pointless
pity indo babies and old folks
SHADOWS OF SG MSIA WEALTH FUND & GLC in slash and burn
HERE'S THE WHOLE SYSTEM SLASH N BURN IN ONE SENTENCE: **THE STATE SELLS LAND CHEAPLY, THE COMPANY CLEARS IT CHEAPLY, and the COSTS LAND ON EVERYONE ELSE.**
However, Malaysian sovereign and government-linked funds hold significant stakes in Indonesian oil palm plantations. They do this primarily through their controlling equity stakes in Malaysian plantation conglomerates that operate massive land banks across Indonesia.
Malaysian institutional investors (such as PNB, EPF, and KWAP) collectively own up to 80% of major Malaysian plantation companies. These conglomerates represent some of the largest foreign owners of Indonesian palm oil estates.
Likewise, Singaporean sovereign wealth funds and government-linked entities hold substantial stakes in the Indonesian plantation sector. Much like Malaysia, Singapore obtains its cross-border exposure to Indonesian oil palm estates via direct private equity ventures and large shareholdings in global agribusiness conglomerates.
Indonesia haze can be classified as WMD
see the reasoning
The comparison, coined by **Robert Hathaway** in *The Globalist* (2013) and reprised on *NewSecurityBeat*, draws parallels between haze and a **nuclear-tipped missile** on several grounds:
**Indiscriminate civilian harm.** Like a WMD, haze does not target — it blankets entire populations. In the 2026 season alone, over **170,000 respiratory cases** were recorded in Indonesia, with schools closed, businesses shuttered, and hospitals overwhelmed across Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore.
**Transboundary reach.** Smoke from fires in Sumatra and Kalimantan drifts east to envelop neighbouring countries — a "strike" that crosses borders without warning, much like a ballistic missile. ASEAN defines this as transboundary haze pollution whose origin lies in one member state but is transported into another.
**Recurring, unpredictable attacks.** The haze returns seasonally (typically June–October), making it a persistent threat rather than a one-time event. The 2026 crisis has already seen **~895,000 hectares** burned (34% worse than 2019), with fire emissions in early September reaching **19.7 million metric tons** — over a third of the global total.
**Devastating economic cost.** World Bank estimates put damages at **US$16.1 billion** (2015) and **US$5.2 billion** (2019), wiping out up to 0.5% of GDP. Direct losses in 2026 alone have topped **54 trillion rupiah**.
**Deliberate, not natural.** The "weapon" framing is sharpened by the fact that nearly **99% of fires are human-caused**, driven by a stark economic incentive: clearing one hectare by burning costs just 500,000–1,000,000 rupiah versus 10–15 million rupiah for mechanical clearing. Roughly 74% of hotspots in Kalimantan fall within palm oil and timber concessions, yet corporate prosecutions lag far behind arrests of smallholders.
The analogy ultimately underscores that haze is not a natural disaster but a **man-made, cross-border public-health crisis** with the scale and indiscriminate impact of mass destruction — yet with no treaty equivalent to the Non-Proliferation Treaty to prevent it.
Can explain what is the point of legal action? Indo get fined? Indo get reprimanded by world court? And????? Does that help us in any way? Extra masks? Free medical? Free funeral services?
Elderly mostly jin cham one lah......i mean, those are quite a few really elderly and the kids have their own lives/careers and families and dont care much.
Mostly dont know much internets and good info too. Cant really buy their own KF94s or good KN95s that are good and affordable. Eg the novita R2s, or a pack of Air+ KN95 for $5.33 for 5.
Of coz, for us, we know such things.
Fairprice selling 8210s, SGD 42 for the box. How to afford for these elderly?
Dont say them, i 58 yrs old already, scared of tio pok and pay also going down, i myself also dont even dare to buy a box of 8210s from Fairprice if i dont know much about buying from online .
Elderly don't like stiff masks like 8210...me personally I use leftover individually sealed Novita R2 masks with copper infused fibres, sibei tok kong! I introduced the novita R2 to my parents during COVID times and they quite like it very much
