I'm also curious to know about this health tracker Oura Ring. Anyone knows?

I’ve had Oura ring for two years now. Upgraded to the latest Gen 3 ring in December. It gives out good data on readiness (heart rate variability, respiratory rate, body temperature, resting heart rate, HRV balance etc.) on sleep (REM sleep, deep sleep, latency, restfulness, efficiency etc.).

One of the biggest differentiators between Oura and other health wearables is that this is not asking to you be active if it sees your body needs rest. In which case it recommends “recovery mode”.

I have noticed myself cutting down on alcohol recently. Readings on app the following day tells the story :)

My female colleague also has Oura and she got pregnant last year and said her Oura noticed something going on before she took pregnancy test, as her respiratory rate went way higher than baseline.

All in all, I have been satisfied. I ordered it directly from ouraring.com. They sent testing kit first to choose right size, after which sent the actual ring. They use DHL so it was quite quick.

Online feedbacks were saying heart rate tracking is wildly inaccurate compared to Fitbit and there's battery issue for some gen 2 rings. When shipped to SG for gen 3 I think quite ex? like $550 - $600 SGD. That is Apple Watch territory.

My Gen 3 ring was 367 SGD when shipped to SG in December.

How is the Gen 3 coming along so far? thinking to get one but still on the fence..
It’s been good. Nothing major when coming from 2nd Gen, except for daytime heart rate trackin and during workout. It works in the background and I just check things from app once a while. No complaints.

Has been looking at this ring for a long time before I finally settled for a Apple Watch. If saw this article first will have decided to get it instead. A watch is somehow quite uncomfortable wearing at night, also charging at least once a day, sometimes just to tired to put it back on to sleep.

May I know how long must it be charge and how is the battery life ?

Do you have to wear the Oura ring 24/7? No discomfort during sleep?
I wear it almost all the time, including sleeping. I take it off when lifting weights at gym, however, or when there’s any other activity that might scratch it. I don’t feel any discomfort.

According to Oura, battery life should be between 4-7 days. Myself, however, usually take it off in the mornings when I go to shower. That way it gets charged every day, even though there should not be need to so often. So, I can’t really say about battery life.

Oura data is made available online, and need monthly subscription to view the data.

Oura’s new Ring 4 was announced this week. I’ll probably upgrade my Ring 3. Nothing major compared to previous generation. Sleeker design and more accurate due to new sensors.

https://ouraring.com/

I have changed my charging habits to only charge it when the app informs me to. That is roughly once a week. Previously I charged it every morning and it’s not good for the battery in the long run.

Regarding battery Charging habits, recently I participated in a sleep clinical trial and I received a free Oura Ring(4) for free.

I was told by the researcher to charge it everyday instead of waiting for the battery to run down.

They indicated that regular charging is better for longer battery life, in fact if I remembered correctly they said best is not to let it drop to 20-30% before charging.

I have been charging it every morning like what the researcher advice, after reading about your comment not sure who is right ?

Charging every morning should be just fine. No worries.
