Hi, my office has all along been using outlook for our email and recently duno why they decided to change to gmail instead.

I really don't like to use gmail.. is there any settings that i can do to continue using outlook for my emails?

You need to do 2 things. I use POP and this is how I did it.
1. Configure you gmail for POP.

2. Setup your Outlook for gmail.
a) Goto Tools and select E-mail accounts... choose either new account or view/change existing account.
b) Under Internet E-mail Setting(POP3) and enter the following
Name : your email name
Email Address : your gmail address
POP3 : pop.gmail.com
STMP : stmp.gmail.com
User Name = gmail ID
Password = gmail password
check remember password
uncheck SPA

3. Click more setting
General > Mail Account : pop.gmail.com
Outgoing Server > check My Outgoing srever(STMP)....
and select Use Same setting ....

Gmail do offer IMAP. Use it if you want consistent mailbox across multiple devices

The best is still ask your IT Dept for the configuration guide for you to continue view your emails in the Outlook client .

Hey guys, thanks for all replies!..

You need to do 2 things. I use POP and this is how I did it.

am i able to do the setting now? or wait till they deactivate the outlook exchange?

The best is still ask your IT Dept for the configuration guide for you to continue view your emails in the Outlook client .

Co just outsource out IT functions and they aren't willing to help/advise me how to configure.

Then in 2a, just select Tools > E-mail Accounts > Add a new e-mail account.
You shouldn't make any changes to your existing account.

Make sure you are on-line. :o
Did you do the setup at your gmail side ?

Check the following.
1. User Information
Your Name : (you can choose any name)
E-mail Address : (must be exact)

2. Server Information
Incoming Mail Server(POP3): pop.gmail.com
Outgoing Mail Server(SMTP): smtp.gmail.com

3. Logon Information
User Name: (gmail account name without the "@gmail.com")
Password: (gmail login password)

Just check the Remember Password.

Hey Peter, i managed to get thru the LOG ONTO INCOMING MAIL SERVER (POP3) - completed, so excited..

but the SEND TEST EMAIL MESSAGE fail :(.. the error msg: Cannot find the e-mail server. Verify the server information in your account properties.

sigh, what could be the problem..

It's SMTP and NOT STMP.

hi, thanks.. i changed to smtp but still have this error msg:

Send test e-mail message: Your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server has reported an internal error. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP). The server responded: +OK Gpop ready for requests from 203.126.40.34 sc3pf27
