Here are two pictures I took with my iPhone 6 P. The lighting conditions are quite low but you should still be able to get some nice shots.

The owls are brought up by the owners since hatching from eggs so they treat humans like family and are completely comfortable with us petting them on their heads.

Sure they do get chained up during the owl visiting periods but they also do get to fly as the cafe staff did mentioned that some of the bigger ones are flight trained so they will fly to the staff when they are called.

I will not get into the ethics regarding the perceived cruelty towards the owls.
I've always felt owls were intriguing and mysterious creatures. All I will say is that I thoroughly loved the experience and if anything it has left me with even more fondness for them.

Just to check. I assume you speak and understand Japanese well. In your opinion would it be tough for a non-japanese speaker to visit this place? In terms of understanding what are the dos and donts, and making sure one doesnt create discomfort or issues for other patrons or the owls.....

Actually I don't, I only know very basic Japanese to get by.
Basic greetings, asking for directions, ordering food, etc.

I went on a Friday as I read there is an English translator and she spoke very fluent English - probably studied in the US. And she's also quite hot lol.

I'm not sure if she would be there on other days but perhaps you could ask them on their Facebook page.

So when I was there all the information was very clear and the staff are there to guide you in case you need help.

There were 3 - 4 staff for the 16 people in my slot
