PC boot up but no display

Hello Senpai & Pros,

I have a very strange situation with my Desktop.
I was still using it earlier in the afternoon but all of a sudden, it would not display any images when I on it at night.
Fans etc are still all running and did not have any signs or symptoms that my parts are going to uplorry.

Board: MSI B550 Tomahawk (It shows VGA LED lit up but sometimes both VGA & CPU lighted)
GPU: MSI GTX1660 Super (There are still fancy lights lightning the GPU)

Since I do not have a spare GPU, I could not confirm the case for my situation but considering I still have warranty RMA is a possibility.

Your motherboard has HDMI and Display Ports. Remove the MSI GTX1660 from motherboard and reconnect your monitor (or TV) to the motherboard HDMI or Display Port. This is to eliminate if the GPU is faulty.

List full specs and age of your pc items to get help easier ? You might want to bring your computer to pc care and solution

check if your gpu turned on with running fans
check if your pc booted into window, using sound like try to make some error with your keyboard or whatever

if your pc boot into window, yes, your gpu might have issue
if your pc didnt boot into window then you might have other issues, could be psu or ram or mb etc. i did start of by reslotting ram as ram tend to be the common issue.

wont work, according to ts spec list he is using a 3600, which does not have any integrated gpu.

@ts the vga led u r talking about is the debug led right? probably a gpu issue.

Yes the EZ debug LED light.
You are correct I am not using integrated GPU.
The only GPU left with me is 460 GTX which I can't really use since it's not UEFI enabled.

I though so too but it's hard for me to check without a spare.
Thankfully it's still under warranty so might visit Corbell on Mon

Yes fans are running and I can see the GPU lights.
I can't check because I don't even get to see the MOBO flash screen or anything.
I just have a black monitor only.

Sometimes, it could just be the monitor.

If your monitor accepts other type of input/port (DP, HDMI), just give it a try.

OR you can try connecting to another monitor, if you have a spare.

I also use my laptop to connect to my Monitor so eliminated the monitor issue.
In this age of GPU shortage, I wonder how long does corbell fix my GPU.

I'll update again if the GPU is the culprit.

TV not the best display for testing. A lower resol monitor will be better.

You can try connecting other ports of the GPU and monitor too. And also try a new HDMI cable.

If all else fails to work or you do not have the equipment/cables for testing, you just have to go back Corbell then.​

Just to update
The nice folks at Corbell has help me to test my GPU.
It seems the GPU isn't faulty.
Mobo & Processor I am left with this 2 culprits.
Mobo seems to have some light incoming so I am doubtful that it's faulty.

But just glad that it isn't GPU issue for now.

Try to remove and reinstall the memory modules back or swap between them (exchange slots).

Thanks so much for all the comments and help.

Figuring that I would need to extract my Mobo to corbell, I decided to do a test while removing the Sata cable.
Turns out that 1 of my old HDD is causing the black screen.

Took it out and threw it out.
But does anyone knows how to safely dump a HDD away?

I should have remove all the Sata cable and do a POST test, my laziness cost me a wasted trip.

It's not the ram issue
But rather the Peri Sata cable from HDD
Cos I didn't think that a faulty drive will cause black screen issues.

In case of short-circuit, yes. Prevent PSU from power on.

Actually my PC did boot up but just a black screen.
Thinking back, I had a similar encounter when my Seagate HDD died a few years back.
The boot up time became eerily long.
Just that somehow this time, I did not bother to check the HDD status by removing the Sata Cable.

But you are right to say that BIOS should appear but I have no answer to this.
